Sunset Showdown WRITE UP – What a wicked night!

What a wicked night
Last night I played at the Sunset Showdown in Lockside lounge. I’ve been ichting to get back behind the decks since the last Chix in Da mix VS Social Breaks.
Richie Balboa and Mini da Minx are a combination that really works! The formula of Boys VS Girls always ensures a great blend of good tunes ranging from hip hop and funk through to electro and breaks… After all those attempts to out do the opposite sex the outcome was one hell of a party!
I was sandwiched between NSB Bad boys Boy Wonder and Kid Chameleon, together working helping the lockside bop along whilst sipping Mojitos and getting everyone into the mood to dance. Anna B bridged the gap between bopping and bouncing but things started to kick off when Ash followed by Minx graced the decks each with their own meaning to party music. By the time Spanish breakbeat hedonist pedro Peter Paul came on the party was well and truely in full swing
The atmosphere was great, everyone was chatting and smiling, The sea of beach clad fancy dressers added the perfect summer sunset showdown touch.
Special hello to the guy from Cologne with the pink shades who was going to crazy to all the DJs’ set
Thanks for having me guys!
Sunset Showdown @ Lockside Lounge Sat 21st June
The lovely Minx has asked me to step up and play for the Sunset Shdown this Saturday at Lockside Lounge
I’ve been wanting to come back ever since I played for Chix in da Mix in September so really happy!
“Lockside Lounge (if you didn’t know it already) has a cool and open dance floor with a large terrace with plenty of seating. And don’t forget the BBQ and cocktail bar which overlook the picturesque Camden canal. Starting at 3pm, it’s FREE entry till 8pm and then £5 thereafter. For concessions – just £3 – please send an email to ash@nsbradio.co.uk.”

This one was to celebrate Socialize which is a wicked night that I played at the night after – It was a great little venue in Chelmsford where I got to play alongside Plaza De Funk Cut La Roc, Kim Possible and the — said mentioned Danny Reject – Sound system was awesome and the crowd was really up for it! NAPT Funkatech records You Know The Sound Guest Mix

For this week’s show I am very happy to be hosting a guest mix from the wonderful NAPT!
These guys need no introduction but here’s one anyway! Check out their tunes and showbiznress on their MySpace
www.myspace.com/naptuk

Genre mangling N-funk futurists NAPT dwell below the central streets of an overcrowded metropolis in a near pitch black environment. When the dark becomes punctuated by the flickering lights of analogue racks they come to life making a soundtrack for your insides and out. With one hand caressing the golden musical sounds of years gone by, the other beckons a call to technological future. Look backwards, look forwards, look inside. Harbouring an unabashed love for musicality and unswerving passion for bass and rhythm NAPT have created a new sound. A sound that nods towards the inner warmth of early house, hails the music that blew out of UK pirate radio and pays tribute to the block-rocking energy of those beats that came chopped up from NY city.
NAPT’s first release was a remix for Sony of Jon Cutlers club hit ‘Its Yours’ which reached Number 27 in the UK singles chart. They then went on to produce a string of club smashing breaks singles for established labels including Plastic Raygun and Rat Records. Recently their “Contrast” four part EP series saw them work with luminaries MJ Cole, MC Skibadee, G-Double, Ken Mac and Miss Trouble. “Contrast” has consistently been at the top of breakbeat charts, played on radio shows the world over and gathered support from all sides of the dance music spectrum. From house supremo Miles Dyson to cool kids favourite Kissy Sell Out to UK grime ambassador DJ Cameo, the N-Funk sound has infiltrated many a DJ’s box. Their tracks appear on numerous compilations and their productions have been used on several international advertisement campaigns and television shows. NAPT have also remixed some of the undergrounds most respected artists including MJ Cole, The Freestylers, Ills, Klaus Hill, Reid Speed and major label artists on Island Def Jam and Sony. NAPT’s steady rise to the pinnacle of breakbeat culminated in a nomination for Best Producer at Breakspoll 2008, standing shoulder to shoulder with the scenes biggest players, the Stanton warriors, Plump DJ’s, Rogue Element and Elite Force.
As DJ’s NAPT’s in demand skills scooped them the Breakthrough DJ award at Breakspoll 2006. This along with their futuristic N-Funk sound has led to many international shows including four tours of the U.S/Canada, three of France, three of Spain, not to mention numerous other European dates and has seen them become residents for top label Supercharged’s seminal night at Audio Brighton, guest on high profile radio shows (BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM, Galaxy FM) and receive rapturous applause as they closed Fabric’s main room at Breakspoll 2008.
Catch NAPT as they spread the N-Funk gospel worldwide.
Ignore the hype and listen, listen to the future sound that is N-Funk on Squeaky Beats this Friday (tonight!)
